Doughnuts or Donuts as they are popularly called are perfect for pampering yourself or even trying them at home. They come in various shapes and sizes. The home-made ones are better than store ones as you have made them by yourself! Here we will look at two common doughnut recipes for the interested people.

Fried Donuts
Ingredients

Softened butter | 4 tablespoons |
Dry active yeast | 1 tablespoon |
Fine sea salt | ½ teaspoon |

Directions
Activate the yeast by dissolving it in a cup of warm water and resting for 5 minutes.
Mix 2 cups of flour, sugar, egg, butter and salt along with the yeast in a large bowl and then make a dough. Start adding remaining flour, ¼ cup at a time until the dough starts pulling away from the side of the bowl.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. And then place the bowl in a warm place for 2 hours until it doubles.
Punch the dough to remove air and roll it to ½ inch thickness on a floured surface.
Cut into doughnut shape using large and small round cutters, and then leave them covered to rise for 2 hours.
Heat oil in a frying pan to 350 degrees F and cook doughnuts till light brown on both sides. Add 3-4 donuts every time to the oil, not too much.
When they become light brown, flip them with a slotted spoon. And then cool and drain on cooling rack.
Dip donuts in sugar, preferably serve warm.
Baked Donuts
Ingredients

All-purpose flour | 3 cups |
Buttermilk | 1 cup |
Eggs | 3 |
White sugar | 1 cup |
Baking powder | 2 teaspoons |
Baking soda | 1 teaspoon |
Ground nutmeg | 1 teaspoon |
Ground cloves | ½ teaspoon |
Ground cinnamon | 2 teaspoons |
Honey | 1 tablespoon |
Melted butter | ½ cup |

Yield | 12 donuts |
Directionos
Preheat oven to 400 degree F.
Mix buttermilk, eggs, honey and butter in a bowl.
Mix the remaining dry ingredients in separate bowl and stir in gradually in the egg mix.
Spoon the batter on a donut baking pan or greased tray and bake for 12 minutes until the donuts become golden brown.
