How long does it take for the sharp pain to go away?

Thank you so much, the sharp pains hurt so much and the doctor said it wasn't an ear infection but rather nerve irritation and prescribed pain killers to help. I didn't want to take them and tried the warm compress and massaging a few drops of olive oil in the ear, and it worked!! And I didnt have to take any pain killers! Thank you so much!
