I have started experiencing numbness in my left hand but not the inside of my hand the very top layer from thumb to index finger....I always carry the baby with my left arm so I don't know what it is but woke up with it feeling asleep and never woke back up my hand that is.....

For the last two days a section at the back of my thumb has been numb. I notice it especially when I wash my hands.

MIne have been numb for over 5 years now, but not just my thumb. I used to think it was carpal tunnel but its actually something called Peripheral Neuropathy. It sucks. Its debilitating. I often cant ties my shoes or button my shirt without having to stop and shake my hands a little.

@ Chris : I started with your same symptoms... moved to my shoulder and I was in tears from the pain. have a bulging disc (c6 to be precise). Weak arm... can't hang a hanger or lift a glass. Sometimes even putting my keys into the ignition is a struggle. Have u had any neck stiffness or soreness?? Chin tucks (make a double/fat chin)×10 put me into tears

had a nunb thumb for a few days. read up on the topic hear and done some hand massage in palm of hand and thunmb its self, keep hand warm while massage, feeling came back in a few minutes, thanks Enkivillage. good data source.

I have had constant numbness in my thumb for the past month. Is it worth a visit to the family doctor? I use the suggestions provide here but would love for the numbness to go away and not just have brief moments of relief. Have any of you experienced relief from a chiropractor, professional massage?
