@ : Try COD LIVER OIL CAPSULES. I was in the same situation for years. It drove me crazy. Then it was recommended to me to try COD LIVER OIL. I figured I had nothing to lose. After 1 month it was dramatically reduced. After 2 months it was almost gone. After 3 months it had disappeared. It feels great to be back to normal. My itching was extremely bad and now I have none.

I also have this problem and it's become quite severe over the past year. I take a benadryl 1 hour before showering, I shower in lukewarm water, no longer use loofahs or anything more than my hands or a soft wash cloth to sponge off with. I still have the problem but it is reduced and I have less broken skin as a result of itching. Sometimes after a shower I have to take a time out and lie in bed or sit on the couch to allow my body to calm down, if I don't do this I'll scratch and get broken skin and scars. Sometimes I spray the most severely itching areas with benadryl spray or the benadryl gel. What has helped tremendously are colloidal oatmeal baths, aveeno makes one but you can also grind the oatmeal into powder and make your own(much more cost effective). There is a lot of material on the internet about the benefits to the skin of colloidal oatmeal(colloidal just means in fine powder form)and there are a variety of home recipes you can make mixing in aloe, chamomille and other healing ingredients to make a cleansing bath. The oatmeal cleanses and soothes the skin. I just get in the bath and soak trying to be as gentle and good to my skin as possible, sometimes using a soft washcloth. When I get out of the bath sometimes I have a bit of irritation but it's manageable. Right now I'm trying to alternate between showers and oatmeal baths. I'm also considering investing in a Multipure aquashower water filter to reduce the chemicals and chlorine in my water but that's a financial investment as the filters must be changed yearly so more research is needed before I make my decision. I'm determined to solve this problem myself as dermatologists have not been helpful. I'll keep you all posted on my progress.

Not so sure about it, but all of a sudden, it hit me that if it's the water we are using everyday causes the problem?? I did a little research, it took a bit more time than I thought to leave this comment. According to the 'Process steps' from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sewage_treatment#Sewage_mixing_with_rainwater, public water, including our daily household water, will be treated through steps, and there's a Tertiary Treatment step where the water could be and I quote, "If it is sufficiently clean, it can also be used for groundwater recharge or agricultural purposes." So we could be using the water that we used last month, year?? and what is 'sufficiently clean'?? I don't think it'll be as clean as the unpolluted, unused groundwater, even it's 'sufficiently clean'! And more, what is agricultural purposes? Does it mean our food sources could be using the water that is 'sufficiently' cleaned? Even it's subject to state and federal regulations and standards, wouldn't the wastes could be accumulated bit by bit? Then the wastes, which we can't see and aren't aware of, come to our table, our bathroom, and harm our skin, leaving our body suffering from strange itchiness that dermatologists can't either find the cause or a solution. I don't know, maybe I need to do more research on this, it's just no reason to suffer from long-time itching without an acceptable cause.

Ice packs help!! This happens to me too. The itching is usually unbearable. I shower in lukewarm to cold showers, and not for a long time. I put lotion on after the shower, which only helps minutely. I don't shower everyday or rub too hard. Still looking for answers. But I place ice packs on my skin wherever it is itchy. That helps, but you have to move them around to get to all of the itchy spots. It normally helps all of the itching to go away in about 10 minutes.

I have had this problem for 9 years now. I started itching for the first time after I was in a pool that had just been treated with chlorine. Since then I have tried and tested every cream, soap and water temperature that I could. I believe it is actually an allergy to the chlorine in water. Since the itching is worse when I can smell chlorine in the water. The only thing that helps me is allergy tablets.
