I don't know why some of us have this problem or for some of us the problem comes and goes. But, what is happening is a reaction to the sudden change in temperature after showering. If you can, keep a small heater in the bathroom. Keep the room temperature warm. Take a quick shower. Then, immediately pat yourself dry. Then, immediately put on a bathrobe. Then, dress yourself while still in the warm bathroom. Take your time, slowly leaving the bathroom. Please listen...it is the sudden change of temperature that causes the bad itching.

@ : Yes, What Ann is saying is right, I know this sounds a little bit wierd but, if the body temperature goes out control... then the brain sends a message to the whole body that you need to keep your body to its normal temperature. means cover it up. so when u are done showering. please do not let any cool air touches your body. just dry it up quickly and put lotion ASAP before the brain reacts. then cover it up. or get dressed. /No Rush/ you are going to be okay. and remember... keep the room warn.

@ : Seriously dear take cod liver oil capsules. One a day. They take about a month to start working, but I saw a huge difference. I've been taking them for over six months now and my itching is completely gone. It used to be very severe. Good luck.

I've been experiencing the same lately. I'm thinking it's the soap I use. I'll change it and see what happens. This has been quite helpful.

@ : Try taking a shower without using any soaps or shampoos etc. That will tell you if it's the water.

I have been suffering from this problem for 7 year's now of no treatment, but i have tried to use all these methods they're explaining, but non of it has seriously helped me, and the more i use these method's the more the body continue to inch me like nothing, the inching just keep on increasing. I don't know what to do then. This problem has forced me to bath once in a week, because it can take like 40 minutes when i'm hardly scratching my body.

@ : This post really is for the mild and not persistent itching... you've been suffering for 7 years? You really need to see a doctor.

@ : I've also been suffering from itching after bathing for close to 5 years now. I've been to soo many clinics and seen alot of doctors but to no avail, until I started bathing without using a sponge. Try it too and see if it will also work for you. I believe the sponge treats the skin harshly.

Affected Person I have the same problem. As for me, it's the cold shower that drives me nuts. Even if I don't use a sponge it still happens, though the intensity if extreme when I use a sponge. I've tried to change soap, but to no avail. What I've observed is that if I take a shower and then go into a very warm room, then the problem subsides, even though not completely gone.

Hi, I've been suffering from Aquagenic pruritus for over 20 yrs now, doctors and specialists from all over the world do not fully understand it, therefore cannot find a 'solution' I've tried all methods listed on this article and beyond, however recently I've started to experiment using different drugs (with the Drs consent). When I shower or bathe in the mornings the itch harsher, however as the day wears on and I shower in the evening the itch is less harsh, reduced by 75%. Ive experimented with fexcofendine and ranitidine , however when using them on there own I did not see any improvement. So what I found after yrs of experimenting is The body has 2 receptors. Each drug was only blocking one receptor, so when taking a dose of both fexcofendine and rinatadine I found big improvements. There is still a itch when I shower, however nowhere near as bad as without the drugs. The drugs usually take between 2-5hrs to kick in for me. I don't know if this information will help others, but it's something that has deff helped me.

@ : I had this problem and antihistimines did little to help. It was recommended to me to start taking cod liver oil capsules once a day and after about a month the itching was severely reduced. Two months and it was almost gone. Three months and nothing. I've been taking them for over six months now and I have absolutely no itching at all anywhere I shower. It's nice to be back to normal.

Pls...that's my big problem in this world(body itching after bath..I went to hospital, doctor told me that he even had a same problem, so go home and change my towel and bathing soap,I went back home and changed my bathing tool still...I went back to the doctor again...he told I should put salt into my bathing water before bath,u did that still the situation is became serious than the Starting.I reasoned about what the doctor told me about the salt so I travelled to sea side and started swimming because I thought sea contains more salt than any sea but still the problems are still there..
