Dizziness is about feeling lightheaded, unsteadiness or losing your balance – it may also cause fainting in some cases. If you experience dizziness with a feeling of spinning, it's called vertigo, which is not the same as the nonspecific lightheadedness.

Your dizziness may be a symptom of other conditions, such as heart muscle disease, low blood pressure, anemia, neurological disorders, tinnitus, allergies, hypoglycemia, vision-related disorders, heatstroke, anxiety disorders, migraines, and head injuries. Other common causes include stress, motion sickness, dehydration, hormonal changes in your body, and excessive exercise. If your dizziness does not occur very frequently, you can use several home remedies for dizziness to fight the problem. But if your symptoms persist, it’s advisable to consult your doctor for proper treatment.

Home Remedies for Dizziness

1

Take a Deep Breath

Deep breathing is one of the best home remedies for dizziness because it improves oxygen flow to your brain that relaxes your nervous system and reduces dizziness.

Sit in a comfortable position with a hand placed on your abdomen. Now, close your mouth and put your thumb over one nostril to breathe in from your open nostril until you fill your belly with air. Hold your breath for a few seconds and then exhale slowly until you extract all the air from your belly. Repeat at least 10 times and then relax for 5 minutes before you get moving again.

2

Have Something to Eat

If you have low blood pressure or diabetes, you may often feel dizziness especially when you are hungry. Eating something to raise your blood sugar level may resolve the issue.

You may consider eating a fruit with high water content or have a snack with sugar or carbohydrates like a banana or a chocolate bar. A bowl of yogurt with a fruit is another nice option.

3

Drink Celery Juice

Drinking celery juice is a good idea if you're feeling dizzy due to low blood pressure. The juice may help improve your blood pressure.

You can buy it at heat food stores or make your own at home. For better effects, drink fresh celery juice every day until your symptoms improve.

4

Try Ginger

Ginger works amazingly well to improve blood flow to your brain. This in turn helps relieve and prevent dizziness and accompanying nausea.

You can drink a few cups of ginger tea or ginger ale every day. You can also consider chewing on a small piece of ginger root or suck on ginger candies. If you choose ginger supplements, be sure to consult your doctor for the appropriate dosage before taking them.

5

Use Almonds and Pumpkin Seeds

A combination of almonds and pumpkin seeds is a great Ayurvedic remedy for dizziness.

Take 7 or 8 pumpkin seeds, 7 or 8 almonds, and 3 tablespoons of wheat, and soak them overnight. Make a smooth paste the next day you wake up, and don't forget to add some cloves to it. Add some milk to the mixture and boil it while adding some sugar. Drink it daily for several days.

6

Use Indian Gooseberry

Indian gooseberry, commonly known as amla, contains vitamin A and C that can improve blood circulation, boost immunity, and prevent dizziness.

Take a couple of amla fruits and de-seed them. Now, grind them into a paste and add a couple of teaspoons of coriander seeds as well as a cup of water. Leave it overnight and drink it the next morning after straining it properly. Repeat for a few days.

7

Drink Honey Tea

Honey has natural sugars that boost your energy level and works as one of the most effective home remedies for dizziness. It can also prevent low blood sugar levels, which is another common cause of dizziness.

Take a couple of teaspoons of raw apple cider vinegar and honey. Mix them in a glass of hot water and drink at least twice a day to reduce the feeling of dizziness.

8

Exercise

You can exercise your eyes and neck to improve your balance and prevent dizziness.

Simply sit in a comfortable position and move your eyeballs or neck in all directions. Do it slowly and gently, and stop immediately if you feel dizzy doing this. You can also do some walking exercises. Raise your hands to your shoulder level, then walk looking at a particular point. Practice these exercises several times a day to combat dizziness.

9

Oil Massage

Massaging with natural oils on the head and neck can always loosen the muscles, help reduce and prevent dizziness, especially due to overworking your neck muscles or stress.

You can use rosemary, basil, cypress, peppermint, lavender, and ginger essential oils. Amongst the best oils for massage, these oils are considered as strong antidepressants and powerful tonics which can reduce stress and tension effectively. Try oil massage whenever you feel dizziness caused by stress.

10

Saline Solution to Unblock Your Nose

One of the reasons why you're feeling dizzy is your blocked nose. You may have a blocked or congested nasal passage due to cold or allergies. If that's the case, you can use a saline solution to get rid of the mucous that clogs the nose due to an infection.

You can find a nasal dropper or a misting bottle in the market to apply the saline solution with ease. This usually helps unclog your nose immediately.
