Sometimes, the best place to spend your time is your home. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “My HOME? Ewww” but hear me out! Everybody goes to the mall or movies to hang out and has fun, but don’t you think it would be a very unique experience to have fun either by yourself or with friends at home and in your pajamas? Now what could be a better option for you than that?
Fun Things to Do Inside
Halloween Any Day
Who says you have to dress up only on Halloween? Take out that costume of yours, repair any damages to it, wear it and then strut about in it while you take a million selfies. If you’re dressed as, say a witch or a zombie, you and your friends can even indulge in fun role play or enact your favorite movie scenes in those costumes!
Exercise
Doesn’t sound much fun, does it? But here’s the thing. Exercising releases hormones called Oxytocin, which are responsible for making you feel happy. This means that the more you exercise, the more Oxytocin your body produces and the better you feel. Plus, you get to lose all that extra weight you’ve always been complaining about.
Decorate Your Nails Together
Ask them all to come over and go crazy doing nail arts on each other. Host a competition, if you will!
Throw in all your ideas together and see who can come up with the best nail art. You can use the same concept for, say makeup or accessorising yourselves. Sometimes, the most fun things to do inside involve your besties and your fav makeup kits!
Hold a Movie Themed Party
Because why not? When are you ever going to get the chance to do this ever again? Grab the opportunity when it knocks on your door. Movie series are an excellent source of inspiration, so look at movies like Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter to have a rocking party.
Explore Your House
This one is for those who have recently moved in or live in old manors or houses. A lot of us are so absorbed in our daily lives that we seldom give our homes a second thought. Don’t be like that. Explore your house and while doing so, make notes of repairs to be done – broken windows, torn wallpaper, bulbs that don’t work, etc. Or you can invite friends over and play hide and seek!
Play Board Games
Especially those like Monopoly that take hours and hours to finish. Might seem childish at first, but board games are not only one of the most fun things to do inside, but also are a great way to bond with friends and family.
Try Painting or Drawing
You don’t have to be Picasso and produce a work of art. No. Use painting as a way of expressing yourself to while away your time or to simply hone your non-existent skills. Look to the internet for inspiration, and if nothing helps you, then there’s always Bob Ross.
Dance to Your Fav Music Video
You always complain that you never have the time or energy to learn those dance moves, right? Well now you have both. So what’s stopping you? If you’re the type of person who finds it difficult to copy steps from videos, well YouTube gives you the option of slowing down all videos, which will help you better understand all the steps in slow motion.
Pin Something
If you find yourself at home often with nothing to do, then register an account on Pinterest. It’s an image based social media platform, where, unlike Instagram which is full of narcissistic photos and rants, you will find a plethora of images, blogs and websites that help you in different fields. Beauty, life, relationships, photography, travel, religion, food, animals, veganism, quotes...... you name it, and Pinterest has it all. It’s one of those fun things to do inside which you can easily do from the comfort of your bed.
De-Clutter Your Makeup
This is fun only for those who don’t like clutter and mess in their homes. Now is the time to get rid of all that makeup that’s expired, and throw it in the bin. And the stuff that you don’t use? Give it to friends, or search on YouTube and Pinterest for different ways you can repurpose your makeup (like converting eye shadows into eyeliners).
Share Some Stories
This one is especially great if you’re at home with cousins. Why? Because you grew up with them and childhood stories and memories are unparalleled. Think that’s too personal? Then share funny or memorable incidents that happened to you or someone you know. Or just make something up. So long as everybody’s interacting with each other, it doesn’t matter what the stories are.
Lighten Up Your Social Media Profile
We often never give our social media profiles much thought, beyond what we’re sharing whatever comes to our mind. So why not do something different? Share some happy stuff on your profile – pictures of kittens, couples in love, best friends having fun – whatever you think will make your friends or followers smile. Inspirational quotes work as well.
Dress Up
Remember that very expensive dress you bought 2 years ago but never had the chance to wear? Wear it now. Bring out those heels and matching accessories, do a diva makeup on your face, and strut as if you own the world.
Check Old Photos
Be it actual photo albums or virtual ones – rummage through your collection and go through each and every photo you have. The older they are, the better. Sometimes, among all fun things to do inside, the best one is to simply think about the good times that you’ve had, and smile while reminiscing about them.
