My pain is not necessarily sharp. It is an almost constant pain that is mostly on my right side. When it started I would get pulsing pain that would radiate around the front to the left side. After about 3 weeks I went to the ER and they tested me for multiple things. I had a chest X-ray, ultrasound, blood tests for Gaul Bladder, pancreas, liver, etc... The Dr could find nothing. It has now been another 4 to 5 weeks and it is still going on. Some days it is better but most there comes a time that I feel like I should go back to the ER. I use heat and cold and get some relief but it does not last. I feel that there is something really wrong with me and don't know what to do. I feel I will have to go back to the ER tonight to at least get some relief. Last time I was there they gave me meds that helped for a while. Help is about all I can say.

My pain is intense when I'm laying down trying to sleep. Deep hard pain under my right rib mostly spreading out to the left, up, and down. It's smothering and feels like it is swollen. I've had it for over a week now every night and it is annoying to say the least. In addition to the pain it stops me from getting sleep. Anyone ever had this nightly pain?

I have the same pain under my right rib cage. It started about 3 weeks ago. The 2nd night it felt like someone was jabbing me with a knife and I went to the ER the next afternoon.. they ran a bunch of tests.. blood work, urine, scans.. they said everything came back fine. The pain isn't constant anymore and hurts when I yawn, certain movements, or lay on my right side.. but isn't a constant throb pain now. However I have another pain that started about a week ago in my upper left shoulder.. it's hard to sleep on either side.. because the pain comes back in my right rib if I lay on my right side... and if i lay on my left side.. my shoulder has a throbbing pain. So i have to lay on my back.. which I've never been able to sleep well on my back or stomach.. I'm a side sleeper. I don't know what else to do and just wish the pain would go away for 1 night so I could get some rest. I can't lift my left elbow above my shoulder without using my other hand to help lift it further. Anyone else have something similar where another pain started? Any ideas what is going on?

I also have pain under my lower right rib area. I had an ultrasound performed and it came back clear. I cannot sit, within 5 minutes the pain is at a 6. I have found when I lay on my right side and place a pillow under my ribs it eases the pain. My pain is a sharp burning sensation. When I stand it dissipates and goes to a 2-3 pain level. I fell full and bloated. The discomfort is worse after I eat. I have had this issue for the last 6 weeks. I am relieved to hear that others are suffering from the same problems. I truly fell your pain. Please let me know if anyone find relief. Thanks for your time.

I have had this on and off for years. About three years ago it got so bad I couldn't even go over a bump in my car without being in agony. I went to the ER and they did an MRI. They said all of my stomach organs were so inflamed they were very concerned so they sent me to the hospital but the hospital found nothing. One Dr who read the MRI thought he saw that I have a double duct pancreas so I started reading about that. My specialist wanted me to have a scope done of the pancreas but my regular Dr said no way, because it would make it even worse and if anything was seriously wrong it would show up on blood work. Who knows? It's never been resolved but one thing I do notice. If I drink more than one small glass of wine, OUCH. First of all, I think something with wine may not be filtering right thru there because I got intoxicated very quickly ( while with other mixed drinks, I do not! ) and second, the next day I wake up in agony, in that very spot! I don't know. You tell me????

I get pains under my rib cage after I bend over to pick something up or lift someone. I had test done and they took out my gall bladder. A few years later I'm still getting weird feelings under my right rib cage like when it happens I can't do anything I freeze and hold on and pray it's not my time. I know I have to lose a lot of weight and eat healthy. One doctor said I have a fatty liver.

I also have rib pain on my right side. I had it for months and it subsided for about a month. It is back, feels like a knife is stabbing me. It hurts to even breath. I also have had many test. I have fibromyalgia and my doctor said it could be that. My muscles hurt and if I touch it lightly the pain in my tissues is severe pain. Many of my fibromyalgia support group has this same thing. I am at a loss. God bless.

Reading all your comments. So weird! I have fibromyalgia. But I have had this pain before about a year ago they did test found nothing said Chosteochondritis or fibromyalgia. Its back, I have fallen off my bed a few times. I am 41 and yes, fallen off my bed hard! Not sure if its that or what! But same like last year. Feels like someone whacked me with a baseball bat into my right ribcage. Its unreal breath taking pain. I am going to see my doc Tuesday. Just wish they could come to something instead of this incredible pain and no answer this time. I take percocet for pain 7.5/500 and it doesnt even touch the pain. I mean I can feel fully under medicine but pain is as sharp as ever.... SO curious what this is! -
