Some of you sound as if it is your gall bladder. If pain occurs after eating a greasy meal it likely is your gall bladder. I am having pain at my right rib cage but initial pain was 2 inches to right of belly button. CT showed not my appendics and I don't have a gall bladder. Did an MRI waiting for results.

Usually if I'm lounging on the couch or if I'm laying in bed, I will have a quick, 1 to 2 second sharp pain attack my right side of my ribcage, closer to my back (than it is closer to my chest, comparatively). The pain comes with no indication, no onset - it's fast, sudden, and a very stab or fracture-like pain. Abrupt and by the time I open my mouth to let out some agony, it's done, and I'm left more worried than anything. It's been about 5 times since this has happened by now - going to schedule a visit with the doctor and relay what he/she tells me. The doctors here are not good at all, hardly speak coherent english, and often turn you away or prescribe you regular tylenol after waiting for 3 hours to see him/her. This is the downside to Canadian HealthCare - Our taxes are higher here, and while the doctor might not charge you full-price, you still would have to cover the cost of emergency services, and a percentage of medication, and specialist services. So don't kid yourselves if folks are telling you it's free in Canada. It's covered by the taxes you pay, and if you have benefits through your employer(s), they will often cover a higher percentage of the medical cost (depending on what it is), leaving you with a much cheaper bill.

I have pains under my ribs, in my back and side and it doesn't hurt when you touch it so that ruled out anything about my appendix. I've had blood tests and nothing came back, I've been having this pain for about 2 years and it's turned out to be a kidney or water infection every time, so don't worry it's probably just a infection where you need simple antibiotics don't worry

My pain is on my right side. It feels sore all the time even when you touch it. Then I have these sharp pains that come and go in my side. I have had x-rays, MRI, Ultra- sound and they say they are normal. I have had my gallbladder out. The pain is still here and not going away. I have had this now for a while. Do you know what it might be. I am going to see a Gastroenterologist now and hopefully he will know what it is. Just tired of hurting. And I am not one for going to the Dr. a lot, but want to find out what this is.

My pain is bad if I lay on that right side. If Im on the left I don't notice it as much. It feels like a bad gut ache! Only it's high up. It's at its worse when I'm in bed. What is this?!

I was having this pain at the right side under my rib cage. It was 4 am so I didn't call my family because their rooms are far from mine and the pain didn't allow me to get up. The pain increase whenever I breath in and out. But then I finally get up and went to drink water and stretch myself. And I was normal then. Can you please tell me, what was that?
