Another itchy problem that can drive a person absolutely crazy, is the use of artificial sweeteners like Aspartame. Near put me in a box. It can attack the liver, raising bile levels in the blood, this causes and itch that can not be scratched.

I had itchy palms last night for the first time. I have food allergies. I had had a procedure at the hospital and I broke out it hives. It eventually subsided, but then a night later after I ate, my palms itched so bad I thought I woud go insane. Cortisone cream didn't help. Benadryl spray didn't help. I finally took a Prednisone. That helped. :)

I suddenly woke up around 12:45am with extreme itching palms for the first time in my lfe. That's why I'm on this site. I took an antihistimine, washed, dried my hands and have been using Hydrocortisone cream, USP 1%. I can't even imagine what caused it but I will find out. The severe itching is subsiding. I'll wear a pair of white gloves to bed with the cream on my hands. Hopefully, that will help. Thanks for the info....Gerry

Hi, I've been struggling with severe itchy palms and soles - and realised that it happens after consumption of Aspartame. Used to drink 8 cups of coffee with 2 sachets Aspartame in it (ie 16 sachets p day) for years as well as a litre of diet cooldrink each day. Suddenly developed severe itching and tiredness one evening. Antihistamines, jogging and Essentiale liver tablets relieved the itch. Searched for an answer on the Web & realised Aspartame could be the culprit. Stopped using Aspartame - and never experienced the symptoms again.

My palms and feet have been itching for 3 days. I'm about to go insane. Nothing is helping. Anti itch cream, Benadryl, nothing. Allergic to prednizone so that's a no go. About to go crazy.

I have bad itchy of my palms. I can scratch till raw. I know this will sound strange, but the ONLY thing that helps it running very hot water on my palms. I go as hot as I can. This can last for hours before I have to do this again.

I had this 'itchy' palm/fingers issue. These little blisters erupted with severe itching and spread to inner finger areas. The more I scratched, the more inflamed and severe the condition. Cold water/ice helped, but did not resolve the condition. I talked to a friend who happened to have previously had this same condition, and eventually spread throughout his body and feet. He was in excrutiating pain, so bad that he'd wake up in the night and jump into a 'cold' shower. This helped, but did nothing to reverse the condition. He finally saw a doctor who diagnosed the itching condition as a 'grass' allergic reaction and prescribed the antihistamine, 'Allegra' (Fexofenadine HCL 180 mg). This prescription resolved both his and my itching condition within, initially 2-3 hours and gone within one day. Stop suffering, and believing what the doctors say, 'There is no cure'. Allegra works !!!
